SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The three stars of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” spoke with ABC4’s Good Things Utah about their experiences on the show ahead of the season finale of the Disney+ series.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri star as Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood, respectively.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is the television adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling book series of the same name. Riordan himself appears in the show’s credits as creator and executive producer for the series.

The series is based on Greek mythology and several of the main characters are demigods, or children of Greek gods/goddesses and mortals.

“Percy Jackson’s what kind of got me into Greek mythology in the first place, and now I’m obsessed with it,” Scobell told GTU’s Surae Chinn. “It’s exciting to me to think that there were, like, kids out there that this is their first kind of introduction to Percy.”

Scobell portrays the son of the Greek god Poseidon and Jeffries plays the daughter of the goddess Athena.

“I read the ‘Percy Jackson’ books beforehand, and I knew about Greek mythology, but I never studied it farther after that,” Jeffries told Chinn. “Now, I know so much because I’m playing a part that has to do with a lot of it. And it’s actually really fun and cool to hear about all these different gods.”

Simhadri plays Percy’s and Annabeth’s satyr (half-human, half-goat) companion as the trio treks across the United States on a quest to retrieve Zeus’s master lightning bolt in the show.

“They brought in a movement coach to help me learn how to walk like a goat, and he was the best,” Simhadri told Chinn. “It was definitely a very fun experience.”

When asked if they were sad about the show ending, the stars said they did have some feelings of sadness, but they were also grateful for the opportunity to have been on the show.

“Don’t be sad that it’s over, be happy that it happened. That’s what I’m thinking,” Scobell said to Chinn.

Jeffries told Chinn, “It’s the end of the first season, but not the end forever.”

After the Jan. 30 finale, the entire first season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” will be available on Disney+.
