The political stakes are high when it comes to the ban on the social media platform TikTok. We chatted with the CEO of Status Creative, Jeff Barrett, on what’s behind the heated debate.

Is a ban likely to happen? It is possible but not probable. It’s an election year and angering 73% of TikTok users, no matter the reasoning for it, is dangerous for either party. 

TikTok is overwhelmingly impactful not just for creators or small shop owners, but also in launching new music. Not since Total Request Live has something been so crucial in launching artists!

If TikTok did go the way of Myspace or Vine, creators are resilient. There would also be a 165 day heads up if a bill did indeed pass.
