Inside the Kirtland Temple: An LDS foundational building gets new life
In 1830, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints built its very first temple in Ohio. However, after fleeing persecution and a schism within the church, the Kirtland Temple became lost to the Latter-day Saints for nearly two centuries.
However, earlier this year, the church reacquired the temple, along with other properties and relics from its past. And now, that temple is being reopened to the public, allowing members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to see one of their foundational temples for the first time.
ABC4’s Sarah Murphy will be spending the last week of March touring the temple, talking to church members and telling the story of what the Kirtland Temple means in the 21st Century. Her stories will be shared here, and even if you can’t make it to Ohio, you can go in-depth with Sarah, starting a new era.
Make sure you tune in to ABC4 News throughout the week to check in on the latest.
We’ll wrap up her coverage with a full special report on Easter Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
